Restorative Yoga + Meditation

Restorative Yoga is a practice that encourages us to slow down and tune inwards, bringing us out of flight or flight and into rest and digest.

We will use the support of props (bolsters, blankets, blocks, pillows, all things cozy) to help ease into our mind and bodies. Generally, there are 5-7 poses in an hour class that are held comfortably with the use of our props for longer periods of time.

This class will help to improve sleep, relax your nervous system, and bring you into a state of peace and calm. Soft gentle music, meditations and readings will help to aide in this deeply nourishing experience.

Fun Fact:

Restorative Yoga can provide the same benefits of a deep sleep if done right. In fact, it’s been said that 1 hour of restorative yoga is comparable to 3 hours of sleep!

This class has been created with a perfect balance of both movement and stillness aimed at bringing our nervous system into balance, restoring a sense of peace and calm and leaving you with a blissful and rejuvenated feeling.

Flex'A'bility Freedom

One of the biggest misconceptions of yoga is that you need to be flexible to come, when in fact, you come to yoga and become more flexible, mind + body.

In this 45 min. class we will focus on stretching and lengthen different parts of our body, while using our breath to guide us.

Props will be provided to help support us as we move through our tighter and more stubborn areas (which can be different for each of us, both physically and mentally).

This class is aimed at stretching our body and mind, while providing us with more flexibility and improved range of motion. As the saying goes, "we bend so we don’t break."

Throughout the class we will use pranayama (breathwork) to inspire a more meditative practice. There will be many opportunities to pause and check in with ourselves physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Yoga with Props

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a practice that is rooted in the traditions of both India and China, but most prominently comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yin Yoga is a grounded and slow practice meant to balance the busyness of our modern lives, and complement more dynamic yoga asana practices, by encouraging us to find a place of stillness, receptivity, and release.

In Yin Yoga we come into postures that place gentle pressure and tension on the physical location of energetic pathways (meridians) in the body. By applying gentle pressure to these areas we work towards releasing stuck or stagnant energy in the body. This can help us to balance our energetic system, as well as our emotions, allowing us to live a more balanced life.

The physical postures that are used in Yin Yoga are held for 3-7 minutes, and utilize the natural force of gravity and the weight of our own bodies to encourage a release of muscular engagement. This allows us to gently stress the connective tissues in our bodies, including tendons, ligaments, and fascia.

Yin Yoga contributes to our overall health and wellbeing by balancing Yin and Yang energies in the body, improving joint and tissue health, and cultivating emotional awareness.
